Star Nature Preserve
Welcome to North Star, a sanctuary for wildlife and their
habitats. What will you discover here at the edge of the urban
world?
Visit
the Viewing Platform for a full view of the preserve.
Help
protect the Preserve's wildlife, habitat and tranquility.
The
preserve is open to allowed uses 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
Stay
on the East of Aspen Trail and designated Preserve access corridors.
Dogs
are prohibited in the Preserve and must be leashed on East of Aspen
Trail.
Fishing,
hunting, camping, swimming, bicycles, and horses are prohibited.
Keep
noise and activity to a minimum.
Leave
nothing behind and take nothing when you leave.
Why
a Wildlife Preserve?
North
Star was created to:
Provide
people with a place to connect to the natural world.
Protect
critical and historic elk migration routes.
Protect
the ecology of the Roaring Fork River and the Valley's wetlands.
Provide
sanctuary for diverse wildlife.
Connect
habitat areas used by wildlife moving moving through the Valley.
Serve
as an environmental education site.
