Syndicate Block

Built in 1884, the Syndicate Block is the oldest Sioux Quartzite building in the Historic District.  It is Italianate in style with a unique

pressed metal cornice on the pediment projecting from the cornice. On the building front is a relief of an Indian ceremonial pipe

crossed with a bow and arrow.  Symbolizing the significance of the Pipestone quarries and the rich Native American heritage of our

area.  In 1976 the Syndicate Block was place on the National Register of Historic Places.
