Santa
Fe, the oldest capital city in the United States, was established in
1610 as the seat of Spanish colonial government for the Province of
New Mexico. The Palace of the Governors, used by Spanish, Mexican,
and Territorial governors, has flanked the historic plaza since its
construction in 1610, and now comprises part of the Museum of New
Mexico.
