St. Albans Raid

 

The Civil War entered Vermont, Oct. 19, 1864, when 22 Confederates spread terror from the north, robbed 3 banks and shot up 

the town.  Stealing horses, they fled back into Canada.  There, after trial, they were freed and the banks partially reimbursed.
