Text
of sign:
Tuff
Cliff
Dense
clouds of volcano ash once flowed across the land. Rock fragments in
the ash were so hot that they welded together and
flattened
as they settled. A series of such ash flows formed the light colored
rock, a welded TUFF, exposed in the cliff above.
Water,
frost, and roots erode the cliff today. Severe earthquakes cause sudden
rockslides. The boulders around you are evidence
of
the continual erosion of the cliff.
